Let me start by telling you how I decided to move from Mac to Illamasqua. For the past 2 years I have been a AVID MAC fan. Every single month I would get paid and pop along to Harvey Nichols Leeds and spend at least £50 a time. All that changed however, when I bought the 150 powder brush. I have never EVER seen a brush this awful. Ive had £2 brushes from that crappy make up stall in Kirgate Market that have held up better than that. £33.50 for a molting brush, I was NOT happy. So I decided to do what I always do, get on google and see what everyone else is saying (im a massive google queen. If in doubt, google it). It was then that I saw all the complaints. Not about the brushes. About everything. With Mac becoming more mainstream the quality has gone down on the sheer basis that they think they can now get away with just the name. And then I found the illamasqua reviews and decided that a change is needed.
With MAC I can literally just slap in on my face, blot it with a sponge and go. That is not the case with illamasqua skin base. You HAVE to buff your face with the buff foundation brush in order for it to ‘set' perfectly which can be agg if your in a rush, but if ur gunna be lazy at beauty u deserve to look like crap. I wouldn't say either brand had more colour range than the other to be honest, they both have broad ranges of shades HOWEVER illamasqua do have a ‘paler' range for those with very very light skin tones. The coverage I would say is about the same. I prefer a matte finish, like a Pottery Doll. I found Studio Fix very cakey and stodgy to touch as opposed to the sheer light feel that Skin Base gives me
The packaging is another FAIL for Mac aswell, glass bottles are a no no. Ive tipped a bottle upside down in the past and managed to get another 2 weeks worth out! The Skin Base is in a squeezy tube making it much more efficient.
I did my research beforehand and went down to a MAC store to confirm my shade – NC25. It is good to know your MAC shade as people tend to use MAC as a guideline. Mac os pendrive. Another main concern, the customer service. I find the women at MAC very snobby and very arrogant. Quite intimidating in all honesty. When I once asked for my shade of Studio Fix she looked at me like id walked in her bedroom and shat on her rug. As soon as I walked in illamasqua Leeds they were very complimentary, helpful and not at all judgemental of my make up free pale face. I sat down, was pampered and felt 100% comfortable. Im gutted I didn't get the blonde girls name who made me up as she was just so lovely and kind.

All in all I can openly say I have now converted to Illamasqua and will continue to use in the future!

I have now 100% converted back to MAC. Mac red rock review. Illamasqua was far too fussy to mess areound with so ended up leaving my cakey. I am back to using MAC in shade NC25 and im very very happy
